Making Teachers’ Day a memorable event
The EMEA Training College at Kondotty celebrated the Teachers’ Day on Monday by spending time with
three physically challenged persons who braved their odds to be successful.
The presence of paraplegics K.V. Rabia and Dildar Ahmed and visually impaired M. Renuka provided
a different experience to the students and the teachers of the college.
“No amount of knowledge from books can replace the experience such a meeting offered,” said
college principal. When Ms. Rabia motivated the group by sharing her experience and advising them not to say
no to life, Mr. Dildar cautioned them against carelessly handling accident victims.
“You can’t predict what will happen to an accident victim, no matter big or small accident.
It all depends on the way you handle it. Leave things to the experts. You should not act like experts,”
he advised them.Ms. Renuka, who made tremendous contributions to Calicut University overcoming her
visual impairment, inaugurated an audio version of B.Ed textbooks prepared by
a group of students at the college.“The audio texts can be of great help to the visually impaired students,”
she said. The Teachers’ Day also had a role reversal where all faculty members of the campus turned
students and the students became teachers.
